About the Family Law Awards

The Family Law Awards brings the family law community together for its biggest night of the year, celebrating excellence, networking and recognising its vital contribution to society. The Family Law Awards were launched in 2011 to recognise the important work of family lawyers, and celebrate their many successes and outstanding achievements.

We have had to get used to a ‘new normal’ in the past two years, and many of us are still working remotely, juggling childcare and dealing with increased workloads, and often feeling isolated from our colleagues and associates that we used to see regularly. Thankfully, it looks like we are approaching the end of restrictions, so now, more than ever, it is important to engage with the family law community and ensure that the incredible work family law practitioners do is recognised and celebrated once our working lives have gone back to normal.

Once again, we are welcoming entries in both national and regional categories. For further details see the regional awards page.

The shortlist and winners will once again be chosen by a judging panel made up of the heads of the Family Law Bar Association, Resolution, the Association of Lawyers for Children and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, along with Family Law editors and publishing professionals.

In keeping with tradition, three of this year’s Awards will be voted for by the family law community. A shortlist of entrants will be selected by the judges from the entries received and voting will open here in September.

Over the past 10 years, the Family Law Awards have firmly established themselves as a highly prestigious event, celebrating the success and achievements of family lawyers and the vital contribution that they make to society. Last year’s virtual ceremony was attended by over 700 guests drawn from across the family law community, including solicitors’ practices, the Bar and the public sector. In 2019, we held a dazzling awards ceremony at the Ball Room South Bank which was attended by more the 500 people.

“Words aren’t enough to express how immensely grateful and privileged I am to have won this award. I dedicate it to the colleagues, friends, and loved ones that brought me here, and especially to my supportive family – both my blood and my Coram family – for having looked after me so well on the way. I hope my standing onstage last night inspires anyone that wants to do this job to believe that they absolutely can.”
