LexisNexis Family Law Awards are proud to be supporting Support Through Court at the 2026 event
Every day, many people must represent themselves in the family and civil courts alone. Whether they are arranging contact with their children, resolving financial matters following separation or dealing with complex divorce proceedings, many are daunted, overwhelmed and struggle to navigate an unfamiliar justice system. They have no lawyer, no guide and no idea what to expect, often up against a party with legal representation.
Support Through Court provides free, practical and emotional help to anyone representing themselves in the family and civil courts, regardless of income. Our trained volunteers support people before, during and after court, helping them understand papers, prepare what to say, and face proceedings with dignity and confidence.
Last year, 50% of our clients needed help with their family cases, and over a third of those cases involved children. Behind every client is a person facing immense consequences for themselves and their families.
For 25 years, we have supported thousands of people across England and Wales when they have nowhere else to turn. In the last year alone, we helped clients on over 51,000 occasions. That’s over 51,000 moments of reassurance, clarity and calm made possible through our amazing network of volunteers and supporters.
Our free service continues to operate thanks to the generosity of donors and an incredible network of partners. We are delighted to be the charity partner of the LexisNexis Family Law Awards as we continue to ensure that no one must face court alone and are pleased to be joining in celebrating the achievements of family law professionals.
